Autumn Leaves, and the Return of the Acoustic Onion!

October’s here, and a chill has finally come to the air — crisp evenings, foliage turning the colors of mustard and rust, and the urge to huddle around a cozy, crackling fire. While the Acoustic Onion has been a little quiet in September, it helped us recharge our batteries and also do some traveling. But now with the onset of fall, there is a lineup of shows on the horizon.

Next Saturday October 10th, we’ll be kicking off the Oktoberfest Live Music celebration at Prince Michel Winery. The Beatles tunes start rolling from the Acoustic Onion at 11:00am, and continue until 2:00pm. There is delicious Oktoberfest special food on the menu, as well as a limited edition “Autobahn” beer. There is other live entertainment all day, so you can plan a long stay if you like.

Then a week later, Saturday October 17th, we return to the lovely outdoor stage of 6 Bears and a Goat Brewing Company, with music starting at 7:30pm. If you haven’t tried 6BG, you should know that not only is their beer outstanding — and award winning! — but the food is also exceptional. If you’ve been there, you already know what we’re talking about. They also offer a full bar selection of wine, cocktails, and non-alcoholic beverages. It’s truly a family venue.

Speaking of our favorite brewpubs, on October 24th we return to Strangeways Brewing FXBG on Lansdowne Road. Strangeways features 36 beers on tap, from simply pleasing brews to out-of-this-world adventurous styles you won’t find elsewhere. It’s not clear yet whether this will be on the outdoor stage or indoors — likely depends on weather conditions. But in both cases they offer very spacious seating, so you can safely enjoy an evening of Beatles music with loved ones.

Finally on October 31st (Halloween night!) we will cap off the month with a ghoulishly good time at the world-famous Park Lane Tavern of Fredericksburg. Details are still being finalized for the event — costumes? funny hats? haunted guitars? — so stay tuned to PLT’s Facebook events page as things come together. (Ahem.)

Of course, you can always find all of our upcoming shows on the acousticonion.com Calendar page. Hope to see you this season for music and merriment. Goodness knows we could all use a little bit! Until then, stay safe and well.
